Roxby, Woomera and Andamooka are towns with a creative and entrepreneurial spirit. The Innovation Hub (located on Richardson Place in Roxby Downs) is a dedicated working space for tertiary students, aspiring businesses and sole traders in our community to work independently or collaboratively in a shared office environment.

The Hub includes: hotdesk workstations for temporary bookings at no charge; shared facilities for tea and coffee provisions;  a small meeting table for co-working; and a larger boardroom for booking on a user-pays basis.

The Innovation Hub compliments BHPs other investments including the BHP Future of Work Program and Local Buying Program. Two workstations are dedicated to local community partners:

  • the C-RES Local Buying Program - established to support small businesses in the eligible regions in South Australia in their engagements with BHP (see our introduction to Jessica from C-Res below); and

  • UniHub Spencer Gulf – an organisation committed to supporting local community members to study university locally and to work with local employers to address skill shortages. (See our introduction to Uni Hub below)

We welcome tertiary students, start-up or small to medium business operators and business representatives visiting our region to utilise the space. To find out more

You can study a range of qualifications through our university partners in the fields of engineering, social work, business and accounting, nursing, teaching (education) and Health Sciences. We also support bridging courses that provide a pathway for people who want to study university but may not have studied for a while or didn’t get the ATAR they wanted. Our university partners include CQUniversity, Flinders University and The University of Adelaide.

The Uni Hub’s Roxby Downs Outreach Service, located at the Innovation Hub, provides study facilities and services including fast wi-fi, academic tutors and quiet study spaces.

The Uni Hub began an outreach service to Roxby Downs in 2021, thanks to a partnership with the BHP Local Buying Foundation and funding from the Federal Government’s Regional University Centres program.

Uni Hub Spencer Gulf’s Roxby Downs Coordinator Katie Szabo is available on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays to help you with any questions you may have and can assist in the application process. For more information, contact Katie on 0490 249 222 or katie.szabo@unihubsg.org. Additionally, you can visit our website: https://unihubsg.org/

Thinking Uni? Did you know you can study at university in Roxby Downs with the support of Uni Hub Spencer Gulf?

Uni Hub Spencer Gulf provides the opportunity for people to study a range of university degrees without the need to relocate to a metropolitan area. We are not a university, but we support our university partners to deliver degrees that address skill shortages in the region. This means you will be studying in areas with strong job and career opportunities right here in the region.
